For the 2011 North American Handmade Bike Show Geek House Bikes out of Allston, MA made a custom polo bike. Below are some pics of the bike.
The bike is pretty sweet, but The Bike Snob had a good point about custom polo bikes.
"If bike polo had one thing going for it, it was that it was one of the last remaining bastions of cycledom in which people didn't use expensive equipment. However, with the advent of the polo showbike, it would seem that those days are officially over, and poloists have finally evolved into agoraphobic roadies."
Thanks for posting this up! What a fun bike to build. Bike Snob is a heck of a guy huh? We ate at Chili's in chattanooga on the way back from the show. Lovely town.

Well, in defense there have been polo bikes at NAHBS the past few years. Also there were a number of tall bikes at NAHBS this year. This bike is for Brad at Urban Velo, and I will tell you that he's going to beat the hell out of the bike, as it should be. Thanks guys!

I grew up in Lowell, MA and I've been a big Geek House fan for a couple of years now. My partner got some tattoo work done at Regeneration this past December and I really wanted to check out the Geekhouse shop, but I just didn't plan ahead.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, keep up the good work.
Urban Velo also rocks.
